This was made known by a Belgian lawyer PAUL BEKAERT who was hired by PUIGDEMONT.
However, BEKAERT said his client had not gone into hiding and did not confirm whether he would seek asylum.
This comes after Spain’s chief prosecutor called for rebellion charges to be brought against PUIGDEMONT and other organisers of Catalonia’s independence referendum despite a court ban.
The Spanish central government has also taken direct control of Catalonia, replacing sacked officials and called for fresh elections.
