Government Inaugurates National Committee on Prison Decongestion, Chief Judge of Federal Capital Territory Heads Committee

JUSTICE ISHAQ BELLO and members of the committee will oversee the implementation of the Federal Executive Council’s directives to fast track decongestion of prisons nationwide.
A statement from the Ministry of Justice indicates that the intention of government is to pay greater emphasis on true reforms of the prisons.
Part of the reform components is shifting of emphasis from external solicitors for awaiting trial inmates to the Reformation, Rehabilitation and Reintegration of detainees.
The inauguration of the committee is to be performed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, ABUBAKAR MALAMI.
