Memorial held for murdered Barr Ken Astsuwete in Port hacourt.

Speakers at the inaugural Ken Atsuwete Memorial Lecture, former Acting Managing Director of the Niger-Delta Development Commission, IBIM SEMENITARI, observed that the failure of security in the society has adverse effect on the family.

SEMENITARI said the murder of ATSUWETE serves as a wakeup call for everyone to make security of life and property a responsibility to pursue.

Other activists and lawyers who were in attendance at the event, including ANYAKWEE NSIRIMOVU of the Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, as well as O.C HIGHER KING and CELESTINE AKPOBARI also agreed that the yet-to-be resolved murder of KEN ATSUWETE raises the question about the value of human life in this part of the world.

Our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the wife of late KEN ATSUWETE, WENDY was present at the lecture, which was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor NDOWA LAALE.

You will recall that late KEN ATSUWETE was murdered last year at Omuechi in Aluu in what the Police described as a case of failed kidnapping.
