The appointments pave the way for the formation of a new government which has been awaited since May.
The appointees include PIERRE-CLAVER MAGANGA MOUSSAVOU, who is to serve as Vice-President, while RENÉ NDEMEZO’O OBIANG is to head the economic and social council.
Both men had taken part in reconciliation the talks earlier this year with the governing Gabonese Democratic Party.
However; by accepting the appointment, OBIANG defied the wishes of his candidate JEAN PING who was the main presidential challenger in the last election.
JEAN PING had boycotted the reconciliation process, maintaining his claim that he won the 2016 presidential election.
