Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the confirmation hearing for Professor STEPHEN IKANI OCHENI from Kogi State and SULEIMAN HASSAN from Gombe State is the first item on the Order Paper of the Senate for today.
You would recall that President BUHARI had through an Executive Correspondence, forwarded the names of Professor OCHENI and SULEIMAN HASSAN to the Senate for confirmation.
Professor OCHENI was nominated as a replacement for JAMES OCHOLI who died in a road accident while serving as Minister of State for Labour and Employment.
On his part; SULEIMAN HASSAN is coming in to fill the space left by former Minister of Environment, AMINA MOHAMMED, who got appointment as Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.
The Senate is also billed to consider the report of it Ad Hoc Committee that Investigated the Award of Contract by the Presidential Initiative on the North East, which had in its preliminary report indicted the Secretary to Government of the Federation, BABACHI LAWAL.
