The development is in reaction to a statement circulated to the media by the Rotimi Amaechi Media Office, indicating that the former Governor of Rivers State had instructed his lawyer, LATEEF FAGBEMI, to demand apologies and monetary compensation over claims linking him to the huge stash of cash recovered from an apartment in Ikoyi, Lagos, last week.
But former Minister of Aviation, Chief FEMI FANI-KAYODE and an aide to the Governor of Ekiti State, LERE OLAYINKA, have said they were yet to receive any letter to that effect.
Both FANI-KAYODE and LERE OLAYINKA were named in ROTIMI AMAECHI’s threat of lawsuit for allegedly making posts on their social media handles, linking the Transportation Minister to the forty-three million dollars found in Ikoyi.
AMAECHI’s lawyer, LATEEF FAGBEMI, who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, warned that if the men failed to retract their claims within seven days, his client would take legal action in court.
He said the apologies to AMAECHI should be published in five national newspapers and on the twitter accounts of FANI-KAYODE and LERE OLAYINKA.
The apologies are in addition to the sum of five hundred million naira from OLAYINKA and seven hundred and fifty million naira from FANI-KAYODE, which are to be paid to ROTIMI AMAECHI to cover damages.
