Early results are emerging from Guatemala’s presidential election, with JIMMY MORALES maintaining a lead.
The comic actor ran his campaign on the basis of corruption after former President OTTO PEREZ MOLINA was forced to resign and then arrested over corruption allegations. Reports say centre-right businessman, MANUEL BALDIZON, is trailing behind with twenty-one percent of the votes so far counted, against twenty-five percent secured by JIMMY MORALES. However; the election could be decided in a second round, if no candidate wins more than half the total votes.
