The accident happened while the students were having a picnic at a popular waterfall spot in Kintampo, which is located in northern part of Ghana.
A local police chief, OWUSU BOAMPONG said the students were swimming during a storm when the large tree came crashing down on them.
President NANA AKUFO-ADDO has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims in a twitter post.
