The cancellation of the monthly cleanup exercise was announced by the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Authority, FELIX OBUAH.
In a statement signed by the Media Assistant, OBUAH also directed waste disposal contractors to clear heaps of refuse on some major roads or risk having their contracts terminated.
The affected contractors are those handling waste disposal on the East-West Road, NTA-Mgbuoba Road and Onne Road, who have all been given a twenty-four-hour deadline.
The Sole Administrator of RIWAMA observed that laxity by some waste disposal contractors was sabotaging efforts by the Rivers State government to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
