The announcement was made in a nationwide address in which President JAMMEH called on all Gambians, especially the political class, to forgive each other.
The long-serving leader also said he had instructed the justice ministry and parliament to come up with an amnesty law to avoid any witch hunt.
JAMMEH’s speech is being considered as the clearest indication yet that he was stepping down, despite his grandstanding after last month election defeat by opposition leader ADAMA BARROW.
