The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, GARBA SHEHU said the decision to nominate President MUHAMMADU BUHARI as the Mediator for The Gambia is one of the outcomes of the just-concluded ECOWAS Summit held in Abuja.
The Summit gave the terms of reference to include ensuring the safety of the President-Elect, ADAMA BARROW, political leaders and the entire population.
The Mediation Team which is co-chaired by the out-gong Ghanian president, JOHN MAHAMAH is expected to ensure that the result of the Presidential election held on the first of December, 2016, is upheld with the President-elect sworn into office on the 19th of January, 2017 in conformity with the constitution of the country.
