Gambia JAMMEH looking to extend his twenty-two years in power.

President JAMMEH is clinging to divine intervention for victory in the face of competition from an estate agent, ADAMA BARROW and MAMMA KANDEH of the Gambia Democratic Congress.

The African Union has sent a team to monitor the election but the regional ECOWAS bloc is not represented.

Western observers, particularly from the European Union, are also not taking part in the polls due to concern about fairness of the process.

In the meantime; the authorities have banned access to internet and international call in the course of the presidential election in the West African country.

The government has also banned demonstrations in a bid to prevent unrest after the elections.

President JAMMEH has been in power since he was brought in on the strength of a coup in 1994.
