Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has expressed satisfaction with his team’s 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United in their Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, Matchday 4 fixture in Lafia.
Rivers United took the lead in the 66th minute after Nasarawa United defender Harrison Ebah inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
The hosts levelled six minutes from full time when Musa Yakubu converted a penalty to make it 1-1.
Finidi praised his players for their performance but admitted that they defended too deeply towards the end of the match, creating the situation that led to the penalty.
He also questioned the penalty decision but said the team had to accept the referee’s call and move on.
The result leaves Rivers United with seven points from three matches, with a game in hand. The Port Harcourt side will next face Kun Khalifat FC.
