There include five suspects arrested in a joint operation comprising personnel of the Elele Division and other Tactical Units, who raided bushes along the Omerelu-Elele-Owerri Road yesterday.
The names of the suspects were given as RICHARD CHUKWU, GOODLUCK RICHARD, IKECHUKWU RICHARD, OMEREJI JAMES and STEPHEN OMEREJI.
Some items allegedly recovered from the suspects include two Pump Action Riffles with twenty live cartridges, while the suspects are being detained by at the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Police Command.
Earlier in the week; men of the Police Command Tactical Units also rescued four kidnapped victims, including a woman, during raids of a forest at Ubima in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
The hostages identified as OKWANANASO ANYA JOHNSON, CHRISTIAN AZUZU, EJEZIE CHINEDU and Prophetess NGOZI DANIEL were reportedly kidnapped on 26th of August.
The police engaged their abductors in a gun fight during which four of the kidnappers were killed.
The Police Public Relations Officer, NNAMDI OMONI confirmed the breakthroughs in a statement.
He also quoted the Commissioner of Police, FRANCIS ODESANYA, vowing that his men would continue to deal ruthlessly with criminals in Rivers State.
