NEMA raises Flooding alarm on communities along the River Niger

The NEMA warning comes against the backdrop of intense rainfall and rise in water levels, which has sparked concerns about imminent flooding.

NEMA Director General, MUHAMMAD SANI SIDI said the agency has received flood alerts from authorities in neighbouring Republic of Niger.

SIDI said information from Niger indicates that the present water level on the River Niger has reached a point that may result in flooding that could compare to the experience of 2012.
