The Ijaw Youth Council has denied reports linking militants of Ijaw extraction to last Thursday’s killing of about fifty persons by suspected militants in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

 
In a statement signed by its spokesman, ERIC OMARE, IYC dissociated Ijaw people and groups from those he described as criminals.

The group also condemned the sensational headlines and impression being created that Ijaw people were carrying out organised attacks and killing of people in some parts of Lagos and Ogun communities.

The IYC called on security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the gruesome killings in Lagos and Ogun to justice to serve as deterrent to others.
