The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief OLISA METUH has opened his defence in the corruption charges against him at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Our correspondent, JAMES IGAH, reports that before the case kicked off, Justice OKON ABANG earlier dismissed an application for adjournment filed by a lawyer representing OLISA METUH’s company.Counsel to Destra Investment Limited, TOCHUKWU ONWUBUFO, had prayed the court for more time to make his defence and also to enable him source for adequate facilities for the same purpose.In his objection, SYLVANUS TAHIR, who is the prosecution lawyer of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, asked the court to dismiss the application because it was a waste of time.METUH’s counsel, EMEKA ETIABA, had also urged the court to consider the application for adjournment, although he assured of the readiness of the defence to open its case, but failed to convince the trial judge.Meanwhile; the defence opened its case by calling in IKE ABONYI; a journalist and media adviser to PDP chieftain, Doctor OKWESILIEZE NWODO.ABONYI appeared as the as first defence witness before the case was adjourned to 20th of April for continuation.
