The State Commissioner for Special Duties Ndubuisi Okere, who gave the advise during the end of year general meeting of the Petroleum Product Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, held in Port Harcourt, said owners of filing station, alongside their staff should be trained on the emergency actions to take in case of fire emergency in their stations.
Okere who was represented by Director of Administration, Fortune Agbila, said his Ministry is ready to train business owners in the state and their staff in fighting emergency fire.
Also speaking, the Station officer at the Rivers State Fire Service, Chukwu Martin express regret that the state fire service is always contacted when a fire outbreak has escalated, which makes them arrive the scenes late, leading to constant assault on their officers.
Today FM’s Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe reports that the National President of PETROAN, Billy Harry and the State Cordinator, Weights and Measures under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Emeka Nwoke, were present at the meeting.
