#EndSARS: Gov Wike backs out of youths’ 5for5 demands

The NEC yesterday in a meeting directed state governors to set up commission of inquiry to investigate cases of police brutality and compensate victims.

But Governor in a live television programme said he cannot use state resources to set a panel aimed at compensating victims of action of police operatives employed by the federal government.

Noting that he does not take directives from the federal government, Governor Wike said the federal government should be the one setting up the panel of inquiry if it is sincere about solving the problems.

He also noted that he cannot be part of the supervision of the newly created Special Weapon and Tactics, SWAT that takes directives from the inspector General of Police.
