The Dean of Faculty of Students Affairs of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Doctor ZEB OBIPI made the call at the inauguration of a new executive of National Union of Rivers State Students, NURSS.
Doctor OBIPI noted that student unionism creates opportunity for leadership training for undergraduates and a platform for development partnership with the management.
However; OBIPI advised the student leaders not to be distracted by politics but to remain focused on their studies, which he said was the main reason for their admission into the higher institutions.
In his acceptance speech, the new NURSS President, PATRICK OGBUEHI promised to work in the interest of all Rivers Students.
In his handover remarks; the former NURSS President, VINCENT DAN-JUMBO identified nonpayment of students bursary as part of the challenge that was faced by the executive under his leadership.
