Unknown gunmen last night invaded the Port Harcourt residence of the Chairman of Rivers State council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, BEATRICE ITUBO.
Our correspondent reports that the hoodlums stormed ITUBO’s residence at Rumuaholu community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, shot at the gate and damaged doors to force their way into her bedroom.Confirming the development in an interview with our correspondent, ITUBO said one of the gunmen was overpowered by members of her household, while two of the gang members escaped.BEATRICE ITUBO, who leads a faction of the NLC in Rivers State, said it was possible that she was attacked because of the power tussle in the union.The State Chairman of the NLC urged the Rivers State Police Command to investigate the attempted assassination and bring the perpetrators to justice.Our correspondent reports that policemen from Rumuokoro Division have visited the scene of the attack and took the motionless body of one of the suspected assassins.
