A female student of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Osogbo, has alleged that a soldier pinned her against a bathroom door and attempted to sexually assault her during the reported invasion of student hostels by military personnel.
The student recounted that she was alone in her room when soldiers allegedly forced her to open the door. She claimed one of the soldiers became physically aggressive, pinned her against the bathroom door and warned her not to shout before she managed to break free and raise an alarm.
She further alleged that another soldier entered the room and attempted to restrain her before both men fled after her screams attracted attention.
The allegations come amid widespread claims that soldiers from the Nigerian Army Depot in Osogbo invaded student hostels, assaulted students and carted away mobile phones and other valuables. The Nigerian Army has since commenced an investigation into the incident, assuring that any personnel found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary action.
