President Bola Tinubu has called on African countries to jointly condemn the ongoing Afro-phobic attacks, also known as xenophobia, in South Africa.
Tinubu said a united stance by African leaders would send a strong message that such acts of intolerance are unacceptable under any circumstances.
Speaking during the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Freetown, Sierra Leone, the President, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said Nigeria had already evacuated more than 1,490 citizens from South Africa in seven batches.
He added that the Federal Government remains prepared to take further diplomatic and humanitarian measures to protect Nigerians affected by the attacks.
