The Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges yesterday suspended the interrogation of ROTIMI AMAECHI indefinitely.
The decision was reached after former governor of Rivers State appeared before the Senate Committee in respect of a petition against his nomination for appointment as a minister.
You will recall that Rivers State senators led by Senator GEORGE SEKIBO had on Thursday last week presented the petition, detailing alleged corrupt activities by the Rivers State Government while AMAECHI was the governor.
However; when members of the Committee drew his attention to allegations in the petition, AMAECHI told the federal lawmakers that the subject was already a matter before the law court.
The former governor reminded the legislators about the existing rule that prevents them from looking into matters that are pending in court.
Meanwhile; another of the twenty-one ministerial nominees, AMINA MOHAMMED, also appeared before the Senate Committee on Ethic and Privileges to defend a petition against her.
AMINA MOHAMMED had been introduced as a ministerial candidate for Kaduna State, leading to a protest by Senators from that state.
But when AMINA MOHAMMED addressed members of the committee, she explained that she was actually from Gombe State.
