The Rivers State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps says it recorded only three road crashes during the festive holiday season.
The Sector Commander, ANDREW KUMAPAYI made the disclosure in an interview with our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR at his office in Port Harcourt.
KUMAPAYI said unlike eleven road accidents recorded the previous year, three crashes were recorded on the East-West road, and only one was fatal.
The FRSC Sector Commander said the achievement was possible because of the deployment of over four hundred and fifty personnel to man flash points across the state. He said the FRSC had also carried out sensitization programme to educate motorists on safety measures while on the road.
The Rivers State Sector Commander of the FRSC called on the road users to observe road signs to ensure safe driving.
He said the Operation Zero Tolerance that was flagged off before the end of last year remains in force until 15th of January.
