The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of a suspected armed robber in a foiled robbery operation along Psychiatric road, around Rumuigbo, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

The Commissioner of Police, MUSA KIMO, also confirmed the recovery of five vehicles and firearm following a gun battled between policemen and members of the robbery gang.The Police Public Relations Officer, AHMAD MUHAMMAD revealed in a statement that detectives encountered the criminal gang in a Toyota Venza car that was snatched at gun point three days earlier.The Police spokesman said one of the hoodlums was fatally wounded while one AK-47 rifle, six magazines, two hundred and seventy rounds of live ammunition as well as thirteen pieces of objects suspected to be dynamite were recovered from the gang.He listed the recovered vehicles as two Lexus Jeep RX 300, a Toyota Highlander, a Toyota Venza car, and a Toyota Corolla car.The Police statement noted that the hoodlums appeared to be carrying out a bank robbery before they were stopped.The Rivers State Commissioner of Police also confirmed the arrest of one CHIMA NNORUM during a raid on Sunday at a criminal hideout at UmodaAluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area.C.P. MUSA KIMO said items recovered from the UmodaAluu hideout include two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, thirty-one rounds of live ammunition and a Lexus Jeep 300.
