The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called an emergency meeting for Thursday this week to review recent developments in the Nigerian polity.
Particularly of importance to the PDP is the judgments handed down by the governorship election tribunals for Rivers and Akwa Ibom states.
According to a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Chief OLISA METUH, the tribunal judgments indicate an onslaught against the party and its candidates in the last general elections.
The PDP is accusing the APC-led Federal Government of using those it described as unpatriotic elements in the judiciary to advance their plot to take over states won by the PDP, particularly Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Delta, Taraba and Abia states.
METUH said the national caucus meeting is in furtherance of the decision of the leadership of the party to fully activate its structures in stiff resistance to the manipulations, coercions and threats of the APC-led government.
He said the move is also in line with the unbending determination by the PDP not to, in any way whatsoever surrender any mandate freely given it to by the people at any level across the country, no matter the pressure.
