The illegal firearms disarming train of the Rivers State Police Command has moved to Eleme Local Government Area.

 

The task force led by Deputy Commissioner of Police STEPHEN HASSON is on a mission to encourage individuals in possession of illegal firearms to willingly surrender them to the police. 

DCP HASSON, who was represented by the Assistant Commander of Eleme Area Command, GABRIEL ELANGWA, warned that the police would not tolerate anyone found with arms after at the end of the deadline. 

In his response, the Paramount Ruler of Eleme Kingdom, Sir SAMUEL EJIRE called on the police to always be guided in the task of retrieving firearms from unauthorized persons and groups. 

Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the message of the traditional ruler was delivered by Eze TEKARA AKOBE. 

The Police Task Force overseeing the disarming exercise has also visited Oyigbo and Etche, leaving out twenty local government areas in Rivers State. 

The Commissioner of Police, ZAKI AHMED, had over the weekend appealed to those still in possession of illegal firearms to take advantage of the opportunity and surrender them before the end of the deadline.
