The general elections in Tanzania recorded high turnout of voters. The election sees Tanzania’s governing party of over fifty-four years face its toughest competition from a re-energize opposition coalition.
Reports say voting was extended in some areas to allow those still in queues to cast their ballots. Four opposition groups are backing a former prime minister in the race to replace President JAKAYA KIKWETE, who is standing down after two terms.
