Today FM gathered that NURTW had invited the Police to arrest the drivers who insisted they will not buy tax ticket from the union, except the one provided by the Rivers State Government.
Today FM reports that drivers plying Oyigbo to Rumuokoro have stopped operation, in protest over the arrest of some of their colleagues and alleged assault on them by NURTW for refusal to buy their tax ticket.
Chairman of DWCN in Oyigbo Christopher Ezeani in an interview with Today FM’s Sandra Kenneth accused the NURTW of barring them from using the roads, for refusing to patronize multiple taxation.
Meanwhile, another driver plying the same route, but willing to resume business yesterday expressed fear that their lives are at risk.
In the meantime; efforts to speak with NURTW officials on the incident have proven abortive.
