Supreme Court to Hear ADC Leadership Crisis Today

The Supreme Court is set to hold a substantive hearing today on the leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

At the previous sitting on April 14, 2026, a five-member panel led by Justice Mohammed Garba struck out an application for a stay of execution of the Court of Appeal judgment. The panel also granted an accelerated hearing and directed all parties to file and serve their processes without delay.

The dispute centres on the Court of Appeal’s March 12, 2026 ruling and the question of who holds legitimate leadership of the party.

The appeal pits the faction led by David Mark against that of Nafiu Bala Gombe in a legal battle expected to determine the authentic leadership of the ADC.

The outcome of the case will also decide which faction will be officially recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
