Super Falcons Thrash Egypt 6-2 to Reach WAFCON Quarter-finals

Nigeria’s Super Falcons secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt in Casablanca.

Needing a win to keep their knockout-stage hopes alive after losing to Malawi and defeating Zambia in their opening two matches, the 10-time African champions produced a dominant attacking performance at the Stade Larbi Zaouli.

The Super Falcons opened the scoring in the 21st minute when Asisat Oshoala calmly converted a penalty awarded after a VAR review confirmed a handball in the Egyptian penalty area.

The emphatic victory sealed Nigeria’s progression to the quarter-finals as they continue their quest for an 11th WAFCON title.
