The Chinese company was said to have often engaged in the burning of asphalt which is believed to be one of the causes of the black soot.
The state Commissioner for Information AUSTIN TAM GEORGE disclosed this when he appeared as a guest in a radio programme monitored in Port Harcourt.
The commissioner said the action followed a public outcry over the activities of the company by the general public.
Meanwhile the State Commissioner for Special Duties, EMEKA ONOWU has identified burning of tyres, asphalts and operation of illegal refineries as the causes of the black soot.
ONOWU also noted that the activities of security agencies that often destroy the illegal refineries through burning has also contributed to the spread of the black smog.
On her part, the state commissioner for Environment, Professor ROSELINE KONYA who also Heads of the task force set up by Governor NYESOM WIKE to tackle the menace, said the task force is at the stage of enforcement to ensure that companies operate with laid down rules.
Our correspondent gathered that the taskforce is expected to submit its first report to Governor WIKE next Wednesday.
