SERAP Urges Tinubu to Reverse NBC Directive

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project has called on President Bola Tinubu to direct the National Broadcasting Commission to withdraw its recent directive to broadcasters, describing it as unlawful and repressive.

In a letter signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, the organisation warned that the directive represents what it termed a dangerous attempt to impose prior censorship on the media and suppress legitimate journalistic expression.

SERAP further urged the federal government to refrain from actions that could undermine press freedom, insisting that journalists and media organisations must be allowed to carry out their constitutional responsibilities without interference.
