The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has filed a petition at the Federal High Court in Abuja demanding that suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan delete a satirical apology she posted on her social media pages.
On April 27, Akpoti-Uduaghan shared a short video in which she mockingly apologized to Akpabio, claiming it was for not allowing him to have his way with her. In the video, she expressed regret “for the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect” and for rejecting what she described as the Senate President’s inappropriate advances, implying that he believed no one could refuse him.
The controversy originated from an altercation in the Senate chamber concerning seating arrangements, which led to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension. Akpabio’s legal move seeks to have her delete the satirical post, asserting that it undermines decorum and respect within the legislative sphere.
