The Rivers State University (RSU) has unveiled a strategic plan aimed at positioning the institution among Nigeria’s top three universities within the next four years.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Zeb-Opibi, announced the target during a strategic retreat involving members of the Governing Council and faculty heads. He said the university is committed to implementing its 2026–2030 strategic plan to enhance academic excellence, research, innovation and institutional development.
Speaking at the retreat, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Okey Wali (SAN), said the university’s 15th Governing Council is focused on transforming the institution into one of the country’s leading universities. He urged members of staff to embrace and drive the university’s corporate vision to achieve the set objectives.
Also speaking, one of the retreat facilitators, Professor Iyenemi Kakulu, identified curriculum review, programme modernisation and a transparent accreditation process as key pillars for achieving the university’s strategic goals.
The retreat, attended by senior academics from Rivers State University and the University of Port Harcourt, is expected to conclude today with recommendations to guide the implementation of the institution’s development agenda.
