The Commissioner for Environment, Professor ROSELINE KONYA made the appeal when she received members of the Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Environment at her office in Port Harcourt.
Professor KONYA noted that vandalism of oil pipelines has a negative effect on the environment.
On his part; the Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, CHRISTIAN AHIAKWO urged the Ministry of environment to carry out more public enlightenment campaigns on the benefits of a safe environment.
Our correspondent reports that the House Committee on Environment promised to carry-out more oversight function on the Ministry of Environment.
