Rivers State Government has launched a tax management system

The initiative known as Rivers State Tax Management System, RIVTAMIS, comes with the issuance of Tax Identification Number, also known as RIVTIN,

Governor NYESOM WIKE performed the launch of the tax scheme and also became the first to be issued with the RIVTIN card by the Executive Chairman of Rivers State Internal Revenue Service, ADOAGE NORTEH.

In his remarks during the ceremony; Governor WIKE hailed the innovations are part of his administration’s commitment to entrenching platforms for the ease of doing business in the state.

Governor WIKE said the new tax reform would identify all formal and informal businesses in the state, adding that such details would help the State Government in its development planning.

Under the new scheme; Governor WIKE said all businesses operating in the state would from next month be required to obtain their RIVTIN cards in order to pay taxes, levies and fines to the state government.

He said all banks have also been mobilised to generate the RIVTIN for all those who want to make payments to the Rivers State Government.

The Governor warned that any business that fails to comply by 1st of June would have to face sanction.
