Pensioners in Rivers State will today commence their verification exercise, organised by the state government.
The state leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has urged all retirees to participate, describing the process as being in their best interest.
Speaking in an interview, the union’s secretary, Dr. Joseph Agbo, said the verification would enable pensioners to benefit from the newly approved minimum pension by the sole administrator.
He criticised those calling for a boycott of the exercise, insisting that such individuals do not have the welfare of retirees at heart.
