Rivers NLC maintains rejection of proposed contributory health care protection scheme.

This formed part of the May Day message delivered by the State NLC Chairman, BEATRICE ITBO, at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.

ITUBO reminded the Rivers State Government that the labour movement rejected the health insurance scheme at the different interactions with officials.

ITUBO warned that any attempt to force the scheme on the workers would be met with serious industrial action.

The labour leader wondered how much the workers would be left with at the end of the month after several deductions from their salaries.

The NLC Chairman also called on the government to strengthen the state civil service by engaging the services of young people.

BEATRIC ITUBO observed that the civil service was gradually losing its weight due to the inability of the state government to employ new people.

Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the NLC Chairman commended Governor NYESOM WIKE for the consistency in the payment of salaries of civil servants.
