The 2025 Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee has distributed relief materials to persons with disabilities and non-indigenes in the state as part of efforts to cushion the impact of flooding on vulnerable groups.
The distribution exercise took place at the Central Medical Stores, Port Harcourt.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee Chairman and Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Dr. (Mrs.) Awani Itong, said Governor Siminalayi Fubara directed that the palliatives be specifically targeted at vulnerable groups who are often excluded during general relief distributions.
She noted that the gesture underscores the state government’s commitment to inclusive governance and ensuring that no segment of the population is left out of its humanitarian interventions.
Representatives of the beneficiaries, Kie Obomanu and Emmanuel Anya, expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Government for the support and assured that the relief materials would be distributed fairly among the intended recipients.
