The World Health Organization has officially declared Uganda free of Ebola after the country recorded no new case for 42 consecutive days.
The declaration follows Uganda’s efforts to contain the outbreak and prevent further transmission of the virus, with health authorities maintaining surveillance and response measures during the period.
Uganda has been commended for its response, particularly as the Ebola outbreak has placed significant pressure on health facilities in parts of neighbouring eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where efforts to control the spread of the disease are ongoing.
