This is sequel to the prediction of the Nigeria metrological Agency that there will be heavy rainfall and flooding this year, and nineteen local government areas of Rivers State will be affected
The Chairman Rivers State House of Assembly adhoc committee on flooding, Linda Stewart who stated this while speaking to our reporter Paul Chimodo at the end of a close door meeting with the affected local government chairmen, said the level of preparation shows that the damage will be curtailed to a reasonable extent.
She assured that the adhoc committee on flooding will continue to supervise the infrastructure on ground, and ensure that interventions from state government and corporate bodies are channelled properly.
Speaking on behalf of the chairmen, the Chairman Bonny LGA, Nengi Barasua stated that committees has been set up at the local government level to ensure that drainages are cleared.
Today FM’S Preye Izogu reports that the committee also met with the concerned ministries and MDAs on how to manage the effect of flooding in the state.
