At resumed hearing in court today, the Leader of the Conscience of Ogoni People, Chief Gani Topba in a witness box, told the High Court that the killing of Muanalo Sunday, who was a Pharmacist, was the reason Zaakpo people deserted the community.
Chief TopbA insisted that General Illa and some members of his gang were living in his camp inside the forest until the peace and reconciliation he initiated in the community.
Chief Topba who is also an indigene of Zaakpo community in Khana local government area of the state,alleged that General ILLA and members of his gang beheaded the Pharmacist and chopped off his private part before throwing him into a bit inside a forest in Zaakpo community.
He also disagreed that the leader of the Iceland cult group was a leader of local vigilante.
Topba further clarified that his quest for chieftaincy position was not what cause the rift between him and General ILLA and members of the cult group.
Today FM reports that the trial Judge, Justice Augusta Kingsley-Chukwu adjourned till 28th of July, 2023 for continuation of cross examination of prosecution witness.
