The Rivers State House of Assembly has received three reports from its Committee on Public Complaints and Petitions during the third legislative sitting of the fourth session of the Tenth Assembly.
Presenting the reports, the Chairman of the Committee, Enemi George, briefed lawmakers on the outcome of investigations into three separate petitions.
One of the reports addressed the oil spillage involving the 24-inch Ogale-Bonny pipeline linked to Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited. George said the committee’s intervention resulted in a peaceful resolution of the matter.
The committee also reported on a petition filed by Bright and 15 others against Zest Optimal Global Services Limited over the alleged non-payment of contract entitlements, noting that discussions facilitated by the committee helped resolve the dispute.
In a third report, the committee expressed concern over the absence of NNPC Limited during proceedings on a petition submitted by a cooperative group, stressing the importance of cooperation in addressing public grievances.
Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol, who presided over the sitting, ruled that debate on the reports would be deferred to a later legislative day.
