Rivers Assembly Investigates Victory Estate Land Dispute

The Rivers State House of Assembly has launched an investigation into a land dispute involving more than 6,000 plots at Victory Estate in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Enemi George, said the dispute is one of 14 petitions currently before the committee. He noted that several property owners alleged that a retired military officer, Colonel Ogwumerum-Eke, demolished their buildings while enforcing a court judgment.

George criticised the retired officer and his representatives for failing to honour invitations by the Assembly and described land grabbing as a threat to peace. He also appealed for calm and directed the Obio/Akpor Local Government to strengthen security in the area.
