Commercial Drivers Reject Petrol Price Reduction

Commercial drivers in Port Harcourt have rejected the recent reduction in petrol prices, describing the ₦50 and ₦100 cuts as insignificant and insufficient to reduce their rising operational costs.

The drivers said many filling stations are still dispensing petrol at over ₦1,150 per litre, despite the announced price reductions. They also accused some independent marketers of manipulating fuel pumps to shortchange customers.

The motorists called on the Federal Government to reduce the pump price to a flat rate of ₦800 per litre. They argued that the only lasting solution to unstable fuel pricing is the full rehabilitation and operation of Nigeria’s local refineries.
