Results are being awaited after voting ended yesterday in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Niger Republic.
However; the elections have been trailed with controversies, including accusations of repression and vote rigging plot.
The authorities had announced that about one point five million people without valid identification would be allowed to vote, which did not go down well with the opposition.President MAHAMADOU ISSOUFOU is hoping to secure a second term, but his main challenger, HAMA AMADOU is cooling off in jail following accusation of child trafficking, which he strongly denies.
