Also suspended by President BUHARI is the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador AYO OKE.
The most senior Permanent Secretary in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the most senior officer in the National Intelligence Agency have been directed to take charge in acting capacity.
President BUHARI also ordered an investigation into allegations of violations of law and due process made against the SGF in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East.
The President also ordered a full scale investigation into the discovery of large amounts of foreign and local currencies by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in a residential apartment at Osborne Towers in Ikoyi, Lagos.
He wants the investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the National Intelligence Agency’s claim of ownership of the sum of forty-three million dollars and how it came in possession of such huge volume of cash.
Furthermore; the investigation is to establish whether or not there has been a breach of the law or security procedure in obtaining custody and use of the funds.
The investigation committee is headed by Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor YEMI OSINBAJO; with the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and the National Security Adviser as members.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA, disclosed in a statement that the Committee is to submit its report to the President within fourteen days.
