ONELGA Chairman Blames Salary Delay on Verification Exercise

The Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Shedrack Ogbogu, has attributed the protest by some workers over unpaid salaries to discrepancies arising from the Rivers State Government’s staff verification exercise.

He said the council inherited a nominal roll of 1,306 workers and that the verification exercise uncovered irregularities, leading to the temporary removal of some names pending further confirmation.

According to him, the Civil Service Commission directed the council to pay only workers whose names had been successfully verified until the exercise is concluded.

Ogbogu said the council has continued to pay more than 1,200 verified workers and assured affected employees that payment would commence once the Civil Service Commission forwards the approved list.
